GIS pledges action against Nigerians who attacked staff

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) said that an investigation had been opened into the attack of some of its officers in Kasoa by Nigerian people, immigrants.

The Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Immigration Service, Michael Amoako Atta, said that a committee had been set up to investigate this case.

He said that the GIS "would not remain inactive so that it remains unanswered".

A video showing attacked immigration officers has become viral on social media this week.

The incident occurred at Budumburam in Kasoa, Central Region, where at least five officials were seen in an official vehicle in a district foreign nationals, mainly Nigerians.

the aggressive foreigners can be heard uncomfortably in the presence of these officials insulting and invoking Ghanaian agents by calling the thieves of Ghanaian agents.

The vehicle of the immigration agents was locked with cement blocks and wooden crates.
