Members of the Ghana Engineering and Technology Institution (IET Ghana) begged President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to immediately form a board of directors of the engineering council of Ghana (ECGh) after the failure of its inauguration in the last two years. .
The said board is the sole regulator of all engineering service providers, including Ghana's contractors.
According to IET Ghana, the deliberate attitude of government bodies to form the board of directors after the dissolution of the former board of directors takes away the power to grant licenses to engineers.
In an exclusive interview with Jerry Akornor, Executive Secretary of IET Ghana, Ing. Emmanuel Wilberforce Kwaku Donkor called on the presidency to act immediately.
"Since 2017, we have already appointed people to form the board of directors and I do not know what prevents the government from forming the board of directors," he said.
