Glasgow Airport contributes 1.44 billion pounds to the Scottish economy, according to a new study that could reach 2.57 billion pounds by 2040.
The Executive Summary by York Aviation – The Economic Impact of Glasgow Airport – also indicates that the airport is expected to nearly double the number of pbadengers that it pbades to 17 million per year, against 9.7 million currently.

"We have invested more than £ 130 million in our facilities since 2011 and we have a strategy in place in our master plan to put us on the path to becoming an airport of 17 million pbadengers by 2040.
"We can not do this ourselves and it is imperative that with the continued support of our city and our national partners, we ensure that Glasgow Airport continues to thrive and reach Scotland.
"To do this, we must also take into account current constraints, such as congestion on motorways and the provision of the planned rail link."

As part of the investment in facilities, £ 8 million is currently being invested in airport modernization, before Emirates operates a service in Dubai – from the the world's largest commercial aircraft, the A380 – from April.
A new advanced manufacturing innovation district near the airport is also expected to create up to 10,000 additional jobs.
Two tenants have already been confirmed in the £ 56 million center for drug manufacturing and the national manufacturing institute for £ 65 million in Scotland.
