All SAS pilots in Scandinavia are on strike as of today, April 26, 2019.
The mediation process between SAS pilots and management in Norway, Sweden and Denmark ended without an agreement after months of negotiations. 1,409 SAS pilots are now on strike.
The strike could have been avoided had SAS management been more willing to engage in negotiations in good faith. It is unfortunate that, shortly before the start of the negotiations, the management of SAS suddenly decided to terminate all existing agreements with the pilots on the systems of cooperation, production, career development and seniority.
IFALPA believes that neither SAS pilots nor any other pilot group should accept deteriorating working conditions, unpredictable schedules and lack of job security. IFALPA urges SAS management to examine the seriousness of the situation and reconsider its position, not only in the interests of their workers, but also in the interests of travelers.
The Federation pledges its full support to all SAS pilots on strike in Norway, Denmark and Sweden and hopes that this unfortunate affair will lead to a quick and mutually satisfactory conclusion.
