The Canadian subsidiary of General Motors is trying to prevent a union of auto workers from broadcasting a crucial television commercial during the Super Bowl.

The 30-second commercial calling the gluttonous and "non-Canadian" automaker is due to air on Canadian television during Sunday's game.

In November, GM announced plans to close its car plant in Oshawa, Ontario, costing approximately 2,600 blue-collar jobs.

The ad accuses GM of continuing to grow in Mexico while leaving Canadians "in the cold" and claiming its cost for the vehicle's bailout in 2009.

GM has sent a termination and abandonment letter to Unifor giving it the Saturday as the deadline for no longer using the ad.

GM states in a statement that the advertisement is misleading and inaccurate.
