President of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr Frank Ankobea has declared “ Operation Zero COVID-19 ” aimed at raising public awareness of the deadly coronavirus and preventing its spread.
There is a drop in COVID-19 cases in Ghana, however, there are fears of an increase in cases as people celebrate during the Easter season.
Currently, the number of active coronavirus cases in the country stands at 2,641 after 106 cases were recorded.
The death toll is set at 737.
The GMA chairman has warned Ghanaians not to ignore COVID-19 protocols during Easter celebrations.
He called on citizens to, with a common goal, continue to observe protocols and fight COVID-19 until the country registers a zero case.
” Let’s challenge ourselves and say ‘Operation Zero COVID-19’. Until we get to that point, let’s not stop the campaign. Let’s support the campaign and the dissemination and strengthen the laws until we completely eliminate COVID-19 ”, he said in an interview on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo”.
