GMC Hummer EV SUV Debuts Today: View Livestream

GMC presents a companion SUV for its “zero limit, all-electric supertruck” unveiled in October 2020. Widely teased on social media, the sport utility vehicle is expected to live up to the hype given that the pickup version has specs breathtaking techniques. The juicy figures of the electric ustay should be inherited to some extent by the SUV, although it is better to wait for the official debut before jumping to conclusions.

The design is expected to be borrowed largely from the truck, with the obvious exception of the rear section where it will have an enclosed cab with generous cargo space and a tailgate-mounted spare tire. GMC is unlikely to make any major changes to the interior where we expect to see a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel joined by a large 13.4-inch touchscreen for the infotainment screen.

The GMC Hummer EV will offer a number of technological advantages, ranging from enhanced Super Cruise mode and CrabWalk mode (four-wheel steering) to Watts to Freedom launch mode and extraction mode. The latter lifts the pickup by nearly six inches thanks to the air suspension to get the electric truck out of a sticky situation. Logic tells us that the SUV will have these characteristics as well, making it a notorious off-roader for the electric age.

Using GM’s new Ultium batteries, the GMC Hummer EV SUV is expected to offer a minimum of 250 miles of range, with the most expensive likely to exceed the 300-mile mark. Depending on the trim level, the zero-emission SUV will likely be available with a choice of two or three electric motors, delivering all the instant torque you could possibly need.

The pickup will go on sale this fall in the fully loaded Edition 1, but there’s a good chance its SUV counterpart will be available at a later date.

We’ll have all the details soon as the livestream will start at 5:00 p.m. EST / 9:00 p.m. GMT.
