Ghana Medical Relief (GMR) has successfully completed its free five-day medical mission which began August 2-6 in Atibie in the Eastern region.
The team provided services such as pediatric urology, medicine, dentistry, obstetrics, health education among others to 3,500 people.
The medical outreach held at the government hospital in Atibia also administered 7,500 drugs to 3,500 people and performed minor surgeries to those who participated in the free medical outreach.
The non-profit organization in conjunction with the Kwahu Professional Network (KPN) partnered up and sponsored the registration of NHIS cards for 864 participants. GMR registered 500 participants and KPN sponsored the remaining 364 participants.
In addition, Ghana Medical Relief provided training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to students of the College of Nursing and Midwifery in Antibia.
GMR Chairman Dr Samuel Kwapong Owusu expressed his deep gratitude to everyone who helped make this year’s medical awareness a success including Bryan Acheampong MP for Abetifi Constituency, Davis Ansah Opoku MP from Mpraeso, Ernest Chemist and Dove Pharmaceutical, among others, and hoped that subsequent outreach to disadvantaged communities in Ghana would yield excellent results.
