Minority Caucus Leader in Parliament Haruna Iddrisu called on The Herald newspaper to retract and apologize for an article it published on Friday, September 3, 2021.
The post was titled “CSO Appoints Haruna Iddrisu and Ato Forson in GNPC Corruption Scandal”.
According to Haruna Iddrisu, the said publication is false, unfounded and aims to damage her hard-earned reputation.
“The writer’s mysterious omission of his signature shows his malicious intent and indicates that the post is a fabrication. I wonder why the writer will want to hide on condition of anonymity, if he was confident in the news, ”he said in a press release reacting to the publication.
He explained that he had at no time participated in or been aware of the problems and transactions alleged by the article.
“Said publication is nothing more than a lie calculated to tarnish my hard-earned reputation and to bring me into public disrepute and opprobrium. It also reveals the general lack of knowledge and understanding of how parliament works, ”he said.
He called on the general public and its followers to ignore and treat the publication with the utmost contempt.
“It is also a premeditated effort to divide us as a minority group, cause disunity within our caucus and render us unable to hold the government accountable for its policies and decisions – which is one of our main responsibilities. “, he added.
Haruna Iddrisu demanded that the editor of The Herald newspaper retract and apologize wholeheartedly “with the same importance as said malicious publication within 24 hours, failing which notice is hereby served that I have asked my lawyers to assess all possible grounds that this post offers legal action against The Herald newspaper, the author of the story, and all the hidden sides behind such a perverse and politically motivated post against me.
