The former Blues star acknowledges that a new arrival at Stamford Bridge is a notable scorer, but his ability to deliver to England has been questioned.
Gonzalo Higuain "knows where the back of the net is," but former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hbadelbaink worries that Argentina's physical condition is "a bit of a problem."
Goal revealed for the first time that the Blues were on the market last week for the 31-year-old leader.
An agreement has now been reached. Higuain left Juventus to settle at Stamford Bridge under an initial loan agreement providing for an option to purchase.
Publisher's choice
He arrives in West London with the reputation of being one of the most prolific shooters in European football, with more than 250 goals scored at Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus and AC Milan.
Chelsea adheres to this pedigree, Maurizio Sarri having already worked with Higuain in Naples, but Hbadelbaink thinks that a newcomer will have a lot to prove in English football.
A man who scored 81 times in 169 appearances with the Blues told Sky sports: "We know that he knows where the bottom of the net is.
"The only little concern I have, is that he's 31 years old. How is he? How is he fit to face the Premier League? We know that the Premier League is the toughest league in the world. You must be physically right.
"If he's physically right, he'll score goals. If he does not, he will have a little problem. "
Higuain's best season so far has been that of Sarri, the current boss of Chelsea, in 2015-16, when he scored 38 times in all competitions, including 36 in Serie A.
He has pbaded the 20-goal mark in each of the past five seasons and is known to provide the finishing touches and physical presence that was lacking at Stamford Bridge.
The former goalkeeper of the Blues Schwarzer added about South America: "He meets a little [Diego] Costa-esque in terms of [he] likes a little nonsense, likes to put his body into play.
"I think it's something that they have definitely missed. They have not succeeded in replacing this physical aspect of the game. "
"It's probably an area in which I think he'll be doing well in the Premier League."

If Higuain impresses on the rest of the campaign, Chelsea can recover it for £ 31.6 million ($ 41 million).
Juventus has also confirmed the possibility of extending the duration of its loan until June 2020 for an amount of £ 15.7 million ($ 20.5 million).
With another leader introduced into the books by the Blues, they are now waiting for Alvaro Morata to complete the formalities needed to get a return to his native Spain at Atletico Madrid.
