Google has appointed Scott Beaumont, formerly head of Greater China and Korea's technology giant, to lead the Asia-Pacific business.
The position is empty since Karim Temsamani resigned in December, leaving Google at the head of the region, one of its biggest growth drivers and one of the most competitive fields, from its Mountain View headquarters.
Mr. Beaumont's decision, which comes as the group's activities in China have been scrutinized for its now-aborted efforts to bring its search engine back to the country, leaves the group with a big hole to file on the continent.
Mr. Beaumont began his career as an badyst at James Capel, which is now part of HSBC, according to his LinkedIn profile. He's been at Google for 10 years.
