Mahesh Bhalerao, global director of Google's Next Billion Users initiative (through which the company is launching programs to improve connectivity in less developed countries), talked about the success of Google Station and presented detailed plans for the deployment in the Philippines: 50 hotspots by the end of February, and others added during the year 2019.
Google has partnered with PDLT and Smart for the infrastructure and has even announced that Unilever would be their first advertising partner because there will of course be ads. Users will benefit from 30-minute free internet sessions, after which they will need to reconnect. It looks like a win-win for everyone.
