L 'Inter Milan is ready to finally approve the sale of Ivan Perisic, leaving Manchester United and Atletico Madrid on red alert.
The World Cup finalist has long been a target for the Red Devils, Jose Mourinho wishing desperately to sign the winger last summer.
However, United could not match the price demanded by Inter Milan and was forced to back down.
Earlier this month, Perisic revealed that he was about to join the Old Trafford Club.
"It is true that an offer from Manchester United was on the table and I was about to leave Inter," he said.
"But I decided to stay and, as I said, [Luciano] Spalletti's perseverance in keeping me has played an important role. "
So why should the Croatian leave now?
According to Corriere Della Serra, Perisic's performances have been so poor this season that the Serie A giants are ready to let him go – and the Italian side has set the price to pay for € 40 million.
The only hurdle for United is time. The Italian publication adds that Inter Milan would like to find an immediate replacement.
Federico Chiesa was a target for Inter but it is thought that Fiorentina is not willing to part with the talented 21-year-old.
Coutinho "lives a lifeline to save Barcelona's career in the middle of a conversation"
Barcelona has been disappointed by Philippe Coutinho's performance since his major transfer from Liverpool last January.
The Brazilian maestro is struggling to reach the heights at Anfield, suggesting a return to the Premier League with Manchester United.
But the 26-year-old will now have a lifeline with a new chance to impress after an injury to Ousmane Dembele.
The Frenchman should be absent at least for his next three games due to an ankle injury. Ernesto Valverde strongly hopes that the catalyst that Coutinho will need will be at its best.
He failed to impress Leganes in his last match and fought for consistency, but Marca said Valverde would trust Coutinho and look to reap the rewards.
