The Sunday Mirror believes that Zidane has made it clear that he wants David de Gea to defend his goal rather than Thibaut Courtois. Apparently, 75 million pounds sterling from the Zidane transfer was reserved for the Spanish keeper who, like Eden Hazard and Christian Eriksen, has only one contract of employment.

United is trying to convince De Gea to sign a new deal without putting Sanchez's wages on the table, and Zidane's interest could prompt Ed Woodward to lift his finger.

It was badumed that Real's capture of Courtois last year would finally put an end to persistent rumors that De Gea would return to Madrid, but Zidane did not want to Mr. Tickle all that much. For his first match on Saturday, he dropped the Belgian goalkeeper on the bench, while Kaylor Navas returned to the bat.
