ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Health Services, Aamir Mehmood Kiani, announced on Sunday that an integrated strategy was being developed by the federal government to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) throughout the country, reported ARY News.
Aamir Mehmood Kiani, in his message on World TB Day, said the government would collaborate with the private sector for the eradication of TB in Pakistan.
The health minister said early diagnostic facilities for the disease were being set up on the doorstep. He added that the current government is paying particular attention to the critical issue and a strengthened program providing free treatment for TB patients.
He stated that tuberculosis was a curable disease and that various diagnostic and treatment centers had been established in different parts of the country offering treatment facilities at no cost.
About 0.5 million cases of TB are reported each year in Pakistan, while the government provided treatment to 0.3 million nationals, he said.
Kiani promised that nationals will see a significant improvement in the health sector this year.
Kiani said the government was working to make the federal capital a model city for health and that he planned to work on health tourism by bringing modern health technologies to the forefront. hospital.
The Ministry of National Health Services has decided to modernize all rural health centers and all basic health units of the Capital Territory of Islamabad (TIC), adding new facilities to ensure the best medical coverage to its citizens.
He added that two more CHRs and nine BHUs will be built in the coming years in rural areas of Islamabad. He said more than 30 hospitals have been modernized to treat multidrug-resistant TB cases and 13 laboratories equipped with advanced facilities are being established in various parts of the country.
