Tina Gifty Naa Ayeley Mins Deputy Minister of Health, Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah

Deputy Minister of Health Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah urged unemployed private nurses to refrain from picketing to claim a job, as their action did not make any noise in the Akufo-Addo government.

The Coalition of Private Unemployed Nurses (COUPN) has issued a 10-day ultimatum to the government to find a job for its members or face a protest.

The group accused the government of flagrant discrimination in securing the jobs of its members.

Tina Mensah, also a Member of Parliament for Mallam Gbawe, told Bola Ray on Starr Chat on Wednesday that the government favors only the private nurses who employ them. Therefore, they should refrain from unnecessary pressure.

"One thing I want to make clear to the private nurses is that we have no obligation to use them, we have no bond or memorandum of understanding that they must be completed and we use them. It is a favor that we give them and not an obligation, I want them to understand that it is not when they come to pick, it is when we use them. When they sting us, it does not tickle us because we have to go to the Department of Finance and everybody wants it, every department gets its budget from the Department of Finance. It is therefore possible to employ staff as and when. "

The injured nurses, who claim to have been at home since 2012, explained that they had participated in several discussions with the ministries concerned to have their grievances dealt with, but to no avail.

The angry nurses subsequently submitted to the government a 10-day ultimatum for appropriate responses to their situation, failing to hold a series of protests across the country.

The spokeswoman for the group, Doreen Boateng, told reporters at a press conference in Accra on Monday, March 18, 2019, that the president had promised not to discriminate against any group of people but had denied his vows, which proves that government nurses trained in private institutions are "irrelevant".

Hundreds of qualified nurses from private institutions besieged the premises of the Ministry of Health in 2017 for the same problems.

They challenged the presence of the police, forced themselves into the ministry and suspended their activities temporarily while sleeping during the night.

It is interesting to note that the same Deputy Minister of Health, Tina Mensah, badured that graduate nurses who protested against negligence in government publications would soon be affected, adding that their negligence in recent recruitment was an oversight and will be corrected shortly.

The registered nurses protested Wednesday against what they see as a deliberate attempt by the government to neglect them as it begins to recruit health professionals across the country.

According to the nurses, the criteria and qualification requirements for the latest recruitment announced by the government do not include graduate nurses. This will be the second year in a row that they would have been bypbaded in a recruitment by the state.

"They gave the go-ahead and thought that yours (graduate nurses) were part of it, but that was not the case. So I told them to forget the graduate nurses and that they are working there. Soon it will be fixed, "she said.

The Ministry of Health announced Monday the hiring of various professionals in the country's health care delivery structure.

This comes after the Ministry of Finance has authorized the Ministry of Health to recruit professionals.

"Following a financial authorization granted by the Ministry of Finance for the recruitment of the 2016 lot of the aforementioned categories of health professionals to public health institutions, the Ministry of Health wishes to inform the general public, in Qualified trainees The description above indicates that the recruitment process in the different agencies will start on Thursday, March 21st, 2019.
