A government delegation meets local producers of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for a possible reduction in the price of the product.
This is in response to concerns recently expressed by some companies about the high cost of LPG, which makes them uncompromising.
Mohammed Amin Adam, Deputy Minister of Energy, who officially opened the Ghana Mines and Energy Summit on Wednesday in Accra, badured that the price of LPG would drop after negotiations at Aqua Safari Resort, Ada.
"We are also recalibrating gas prices in the domestic market. We are doing this because we know that cheaper sources of energy are essential to the growth of our economy. essential for your activity as mining companies and indispensable if we are to accelerate the development of our country in the interest of our people, "he said.
"As a government, we are aware that many business groups have expressed their concern about the dummy issue and we know that in the past, the mining sector was mainly facing crisis-related difficulties. of energy, "he added.
He pointed out that the government is working hard to ensure that all businesses are safe and undisturbed by energy challenges.
On the theme: "Harnessing the Mining Sector and Energy to Accelerate National Development", the Ghana Mining and Energy Summit 2019 aimed to promote growth and prosperity in both sectors. It was organized by the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
Commenting on the summit, Adam said it was essential to develop an effective platform for generating the ideas needed to transform Ghana's mining and energy industries.
"It has become necessary for us to deepen the contribution of the mining and energy industry to the growth of our economy," he said.
"This is why the government has been working tirelessly for two years to ensure that the availability of energy, be it energy or fuel, receives the much needed attention that it deserves from the point of view of strategic planning, "he said.
"As a government, we do not lose sight of the essential elements of an adequate, reliable and cost-effective electricity supply for the industry. We recognize that in order to industrialize, we need to create businesses that are not only competitive but also viable in the long term, "he said.
According to Eric Asubonteng, president of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Ghana last year moved South Africa, the largest gold producer on the continent, despite the difficulties of the sector, particularly the Prohibition of illegal mining.
