Kumkum Bhagya, Jhansi Ki Rani, Timeless love among other foreign soap operas has swept away the locally produced TV series on Ghanaian television channels and veteran director Ivan Quashigah has proposed a solution to the threat that also stifles Ghanaian film industry.

According to Mr. Quashigah, also known for the production of hit TV series such as "Things We Do For Love" and "YOLO", among other viral commercials, the best solution to fight these telenovelas flooding the screens, will be that the government place to ban such foreign content.

S addressing blogger Zion Felix, he explained that these foreign films are being purchased by the TV channels at a lower price than the one at which Ghanaian content producers can not compete. Until a ban is put in place, there will be no better solution.

In the video watched by pulse.com.gh, he said: "They buy Mexican soaps because these Mexican soaps are produced to high standards, they spend a lot of money to produce them and these soaps have made their circuits into Latin America, Right now, they're selling an episode for about $ 400, $ 200, $ 300 and you can buy a lot.

"Which Ghanaian series can you buy for $ 100, $ 200 or $ 400? You can not, so it means that it will only favor foreign companies, which are cheaper and it's the same everywhere, when you go into the textile industry, it's the same thing. "

Mr Quashigah therefore stressed that the government should not even think about investing capital in the film industry.

"Do not worry about money. It is a sector that if you do not put money, it can generate. All you have to do is ban the foreign content of the morning until 10 o'clock, he says.
