Former President John Dramani Mahama criticized the government following its meeting with the diplomatic community over the violence that marred Ayawaso West Wuogon's by-election.

Mahama's statement comes after a press conference by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, who described as false and regrettable the presentation of violence to the diplomatic community by the former President.
Mr. Nkrumah then asked Mr. Mahama to apologize because his actions were detrimental to the work of the inquiry commission charged with investigating the events of the by-election.
But in a message posted on Facebook on Monday, Mahama, who described the government's response to his meeting as "sponsored propaganda," called on the government to shoulder its responsibilities and ensure the prosecution of criminal elements in Ayawaso West Wuogon. .

No government-sponsored propaganda or entertainment will remove the stigma of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election, the darkest day in the history of the fourth republican democracy in Ghana.
The substance of the case is the violence inflicted on innocent Ghanaians by rogue government rulers, initially marching as state security personnel.
Thanks to the videos filmed by television channels and other people, the true identity of these thugs identified as members of the Invincible and Delta forces of the nuclear power plant was revealed.
The victims, injured the same day, did not take guns and shot themselves in the head. They were wounded by powerful badault rifles given to partisan thugs with the aim of intimidating Ghanaians peacefully exercising their right to vote in a by – election.
The meeting held by my office jointly with the NDC party and the minority in Parliament aimed to correct the false impression given to the diplomatic corps that NDC was the cause of the violence at Ayawaso West Wuogon.

In any case, this is not the first time, and it will not be the last time in our history that an opposition group meets with the diplomatic corps to explain or clarify its version or its prospects of politics or events of our country.
The government must badume its responsibilities and pursue the criminal elements it has deployed in Ayawaso West Wuogon. It is these actions that paint the country in black on the international scene, not those that denounce the ignoble acts sanctioned by the government and its agents.
