UNDP Resident Representative Gita Welch said the fight against climate change offers the greatest investment opportunity, which requires strong political will and a strategic approach.
"Studies have shown that a bold climate action could generate $ 26 trillion in economic spinoffs by 2030 and create 65 million new jobs," she said.
She also said that private funding for NDC implementation in Africa has not been encouraging, as 85 percent of NDC in the region depended on international funding.
The implementation of the CDN is also part of Goal 13 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which aims to mobilize $ 100 billion a year by 2020 to meet the needs. developing countries and help mitigate climate-related disasters.
Acting Executive Director of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), John Pwamang, said that although the government has invested up to now more than $ 13 billion to provide Greenhouse solutions to Ghanaians, this investment was insufficient to achieve the NDC's goal.
