"Young people must have options on the career choice that they have chosen and I am pleased to announce that everything is ready for the construction of ten cutting – edge training courses in technical and vocational education. centers this year, "he said.

President Nana Addo also announced that the Top Ten Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) centers are under construction across the country to support the teaching and learning of both subjects in elementary schools.

"So you can be sure that Ghanaian young people will be able to acquire skills that will place them at the same level as their peers around the world," said the president.

He also said that a new standards-based program will be rolled out from kindergarten to grade 6 in elementary schools in September 2019.

The program, based on best practices from around the world, will aim to give Ghanaian children self-confidence, creative thinkers, innovative, literate and patriotic citizens.

The Chair added that mathematics, science, reading and writing and Creativity is at the heart of the new program.

He continued that legislation will be adopted this year to redefine basic education by including high school.
