Government to release findings of Ejura committee report next week – Oppong Nkrumah

The government will finally release the full findings of the three-member ministerial committee investigating the unrest in Ejura in the Ashanti region next week, Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said.

The committee was formed by the Minister of the Interior under the instructions of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

It became necessary after a social activist, Ibrahim Kaaka Mohammed, was assaulted and killed in June.

Three more people later died while several others were injured after violence erupted when some protesters clashed with security guards.

Although the Committee completed its work on the violence in Ejura in July and submitted the report to President Akufo-Addo, its contents have not yet been made public.

Speaking to Citi News, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah revealed that the president ordered the report to be released next week.

“The president has requested that we publish the report, so maybe before the end of this week or next week, we will publish the report in its entirety and at the same time also announce the implementing measures that accompany this publication.” , said the information ministers. .

According to Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Attorney General under the instructions of President Akufo-Addo has reviewed the report and will provide advice on the implementation of the recommendations.

Among the many recommendations made by the committee in the report, it is said that it advised the dismissal of the head of the municipal executive of Ejisu, Mohammed Salisu Bamba as well as the soldier who led the command of the ground operation. the day of the incident.

The committee also reportedly recommended that compensation be paid to affected families and victims of violence in Ejura.
