Government to review national youth policy this year

Accra, May 2, GNA – Mr. Isaac Kwame Asiamah,
Minister of Youth and Sports, said that the government was ready to face the
reviewed the National Youth Policy to guide the implementation of programs and
youth development policies.

Politics, to be unveiled by President Nana
Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, during the year, would help solve the problems
the challenges of youth in a more holistic and holistic way.

The minister said this in a speech read on his
on behalf of the third International Scout and Guide Scholarship
2019 African Regional Conference in Accra on Thursday.

He explained that the policy had been promulgated
in 2010 and the Government, through the National Youth Authority, organized a
stakeholder dialogue, involving youth groups and stakeholders to review it.

Politics, he said, would create the necessary
support system for safeguarding youth development.

"As a nation and especially as a continent,
where the percentage of young people in relation to the total population is almost 35%
hundred, or more, the question is how to discover and discover the potential
more young men and women, "he said.

Mr. Asiamah said he discovered the potential of
youth was not enough and called all to strive to develop and refresh
these potentials for national growth and development.

Speaking of the principles of Scouting and
guiding, he said, they derive from the concept of informal education and
training, which has helped young people to acquire knowledge, skills and abilities
for life at an early stage.

He said that it was important to discover the
early young people to help them become national badets and to ensure
they contributed to national development.

Mr. Prosper Bani, President of the International
Community of Scouts and Guides, called all scouts and guides to instill
discipline and sense of patriotism among youth to develop positive attitudes
cleanliness, protection of state property and education.

He said to do that, they needed to understand
the language of young people, particularly as regards technology, to enable them to
approach and badociate with young people accordingly for a positive impact.

Mr. Bani asked members of the community to be
law-abiding, trustworthy, loyal, respectful, obedient and disciplined like those
were attributes necessary to collectively achieve the goals of Scouts and
guides.

Ms. Stephanie S. Sullivan, United States
Ambbadador in Ghana, stated that the activities of the community were in accordance with the
the American vision of helping organizations and countries to promote safety, good
governance and prosperity.

She advised members of the community to be
committed to promoting civil education among the youngest and to serve as good
models for them.

She stated that youth participation was important for
development, adding that it reduces poverty and improves health care.

"The true future of our world is in the youth
and we see the future as very promising, so we must redouble our efforts to make sure
that they be used positively to promote development, "said Ms. Sullivan.

Scouts and Girl Scouts attended the conference.
