In order to contribute to the ease of doing business in the country, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has put in place an integrated system that will help individuals and businesses to file their tax returns and pay their taxes, including digitally. .

Called the Integrated Taxation and Demand Preparation (iTAPS) system, the platform, which will be officially put online from tomorrow on Friday, is among the many measures taken by the authorities to ensure the efficiency of the ranking and the payment of taxes.

It also aims to help reduce the cost of operations and increase the level of tax compliance for individuals and organizations.

ITAPS is an online services platform that will allow taxpayers to prepare, apply and receive annual tax returns, a tax clearance certificate and audits, and a payroll deduction. VAT, among other services provided by the GRA.

The Commissioner General of Authority, Mr Kofi Nti, who announced it at a special event for the media last Wednesday, said that the system was part of the mandate of the GRA aimed at raise public awareness of the importance of paying taxes as a civic responsibility. essential means enabling the government to generate funds internally to accelerate the country's development.

"April is reserved for the filing of taxes. We therefore hope that the discussion will focus on the importance of filing returns and paying taxes. We also want to use this opportunity to launch a project (software) called iTAPS, "he said.

He also stated that the month of April had been set aside for tax filing and that, as a result, Tax and Good Governance Week, scheduled for April 5 to 12, would focus on the new system.

A series of activities described to mark the second edition of Tax and Good Governance Week included tax workshops, radio and television discussions, and social media interactions.

Advocacy

Nti said the iTAPS was a tax compliance tool that tended to bring more money back to the country and improve the country's tax system to foster national development.

He urged the media to continue to cooperate with the GRA by recalling the tax collector's mandate to make tax systems work.

Why iTAPS?

An iTAPS team has demonstrated the use of the software for various GRA services.

The software requires a login account with tax identification number (TIN), any recognized national identity card and a pbadword as prerequisites to register on the platform.

The iTAPS project was set up to provide taxpayers with a convenient and less sophisticated means of intervention.

The digital project aims to facilitate business transactions, compliance costs and the quality of tax returns.

The GRA also aims to progressively improve the ranking of the diagnostic tools of the tax administration (TADAT) with the iTAPS software.

The iTAPS system will also serve as an archiving center for the commercial transactions of individuals and organizations.

Cyber ​​security

On the issue of security, a representative of the iTAPS team, Mr. George Lutterodt, badured that the system was ISO certified and, therefore, complied with all security standards to protect the data of the applicants and also to prevent all forms of cyber-threats. .

"The platform, which currently runs on a website URL, is secured by an HTTP certification.

We respect certain international standards to ensure total security.

Therefore, we have no doubt about the safety of users on the platform, "he said.

Mr. Lutterodt added that the iTAPS platform provided, among other things, payments via mobile money services (Mobile Money).

Accessibility

Mr. Lutterodt said that after launching the first phase of the project, the team would deploy about 10 modules of the iTAPS project on mobile applications.

The different modules will be made operational on Android and iOS devices to ensure easy access.

Alternatively, a USSD code will be generated to rebadure some of the general public who can not have access to the mobile application or website URL.
