GRA launches a policy document to pursue unpaid taxes

The Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Emmanuel Kofi-Nti, reiterated that this authority would vigorously pursue all unpaid and tax evaders.

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has therefore launched a policy to prosecute all companies that do not comply with tax laws or tax invaders.

According to Commissioner General businesses and individuals with income who have defaulted on their tax obligations to take advantage of the amnesty period and to honor their ongoing tax obligations or to face prosecution.

Speaking of the launch of the lawsuit police at the Golden Tulip Hotel in the metropolis of Kumasi on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, Mr.. Kofi-Nti warned that

the GRA will not hesitate to come up against its efforts to ensure compliance with tax obligations.

"Let me take this opportunity to remind companies and people with income that the GRA will be very severe for all unpaid and tax evaders," said Mr. Kofi-Nti.

He stressed that "GRA will pursue all those who have not been able to seize the opportunities that arise".

According to him, all appropriate sanctions provided for in the various tax laws, including lawsuits, will target fraudsters and defaulters to ensure that all citizens contribute their capital to the construction of the nation.

"I want to badure Ghanaians that the GRA will now make the difference between our efforts to ensure fairness in the payment of taxes. It's our commitment to our compatriots, "he said.

According to the GRA boss, the new policy will help the tax compliance box to increase revenue generation. These prosecution documents will give Grace an opportunity to sue recalcitrant non-compliance.

"The charge will be an effective deterrent against invaders or unpaid taxes. GRA will not use the indictment to harbad the public and the business community, or to settle their personal or political accounts

For his part, the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr. Simon Osei Mensah, indicated that the prosecution against him if the law on tax compliance would support the mobilization of income.

According to him, beyond the aid, Ghana would be a mirage if the tax systems are not expanded, but by the defaulters.

He urged the judiciary to atone for any action to prosecute tax hackers in order to make the police a success.
