GRA, NLA join leaders to raise more revenue

The memorandum of understanding between GRA and ALN should create an environment conducive to the realization of the President's program, Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Ghana Beyond Aid.

The agreement should also propel the country into a low-cost society.

The collaboration between GRA and NLA will benefit both parties and the government in the following ways:

1. Increase the visibility, availability and accessibility of GRA and NLA services across the country, primarily through NLA's private sector solar powered kiosk platform.

2. Organize training programs aimed at developing and empowering NABCO recruits, as well as ensuring the deployment and monitoring of NABCO beneficiaries so that they undertake TIN registration exercises. to broaden the tax base.

3. Ensure the implementation of voluntary tax compliance, especially in the informal sector of the economy.

4. Collectively use electronic kiosks and lotteries to improve VAT penetration across the country.

5. The solar-powered electronic kiosks would be used for the registration of new taxpayers, would receive the completed tax returns and would ensure the verification of the tax clearance certificate.

6. The GRA and NLA collaborations would help to promote and strengthen the provision of digital services and the overall digitization of the Ghanaian economy.

In addition, the collaboration between GRA and ALN would help to maximize income mobilization and create jobs in Ghana, especially for young people.

Under laws pbaded by Parliament, the GRA and NLA are both mandated to mobilize revenue for the benefit of the government for national development.

The NLA, created under Law 722, is the only body responsible for the regulation, supervision, conduct and management of lotteries and lotteries in Ghana, while the GRA created under the law 791 as a semi-autonomous body is responsible for the collection, evaluation and accounting of tax revenues. .
