Kwame Owusu Boss Maritime Chairman of the Board of GRA, Kwame Owusu

Dr. Stephen Takyi, Lecturer at the Planning Department of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, asks President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to remove the newly appointed Chair of the Board to the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in order to demonstrate his respect for Ghanaians

"If Present Akufo-Addo urgently respects us, let him prove that, by dismissing the chairman of the GRA board of directors from his post," the planner dared to follow the reservations made by a section of Ghanaians on the reappointment of the former Ghana, besieged Maritime Authority (GMA).

According to the socio-political commentator who spoke on Otum FM's "Nyansapo" political program in Kumasi and monitored by MyNewsGh.com, the reappointment of Mr. Kwame Owusu as chairman of the board of directors GRA gives an impression of blatant disrespect for democracy in Ghana.

"His appointment demonstrates a flagrant lack of respect for democracy," said Dr. Stephen Takyi, Captain Koda, at the panel leader.

The former director general of the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA), Kwame Owusu, made headlines last November by revealing that spending 1 million Ghanaian cedis to renovate a two-bedroom house into a four-bedroom house is worth worth a strict audit of the facility.

He also stated that budgeted air conditioners were not enough and that they were supposed to argue that the current number set in his official house is mediocre and does not reflect my status as head of the maritime authority .

"Some general managers are allocated a house and even a separate guest house for entertainment and if that director general or any other director general of the Ghana Maritime Authority who oversees the maritime industry in Ghana can have four bedrooms or five bedrooms then say that it is mediocrity. Twenty per cent of my salary or any other predecessor who comes to take over will be paid. Over a period, he will pay. Every time we get an air conditioning, we will have 13, so 11 is not even enough, and besides, we do not put them all together, "he said.
