Deputy Minister of Health Tina Mensah gave badurances to graduate nurses whose category was not among health professionals and who would be badigned to various health facilities in the country.
On Wednesday, March 20, 2019, graduate nurses protested what they consider to be a deliberate attempt by the government to neglect them as it begins to recruit health professionals across the country.
According to the nurses, the criteria and qualification requirements for the latest recruitment announced by the government did not include graduate nurses. This will be the second year in a row that they would not have been recruited in the states.
In an interview with Starr News, Deputy Minister of Health, Ms. Mensah, said their negligence in the recent recruitment was an oversight and that it would be resolved soon.
"They gave the go-ahead and thought that yours (graduate nurses) were part of it, but that was not the case. So I told them that they had forgotten the nurses' degrees and that they were working there. Soon it will be solved, "said Mensah.
On Monday, March 18, 2019, the Ministry of Health announced the hiring of various professionals in the country's health care delivery structure. This comes after the Ministry of Finance has authorized the Ministry of Health to recruit professionals.
According to the Department of Health: "As a result of financial control granted by the Ministry of Finance for the recruitment of the 2016 batch of the above-mentioned categories of health professionals in public health facilities, the Ministry of Health wishes to inform the general public, in particular qualified trainees who meet the above description, that the recruitment process in the various agencies will start on Thursday, March 21, 2019.
