In 2019-20, approximately 77,962 national service personnel were deployed across the country in all sectors. Of these, 66,348 persons, or 85.1% of all badignments, were deployed in the public sector, while the private sector recruited 11,614 persons, or 14.9% of the total.
As a result, a total of 6,000 people have been deployed to support the agricultural sector, including the Plant for Food and Employment (PFJ) policy.
At a press conference to announce the positions in Accra yesterday, the executive director of the National Services Program (NSS), Mr. Mustapha Ussif, said:
"The regions of Greater Accra, North and Ashanti have received a very high number of display requests, while the two upper regions, Upper East and Upper West, have had low demand, but are working to strengthen the workforce in these two regions with late registrations and publications. "
Ussif added that 2,000 staff had also been seconded to support the recently introduced NSS poultry entrepreneurship program, which covered the entire value chain of poultry production.
Registrations, he said, will begin in every regional center in the country from Monday, 22 July to Friday, 20 August.
He indicated that the deadline had been set for service staff to have sufficient time to follow the registration procedures before formally starting on 2 September.
