The government will begin implementation of the second phase of the Student Entrepreneurship Initiative (SEI) in April this year.

Business Development Minister Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, who announced this at the launch of the Tertiary Business Sense Challenge (TBSC), an inter-tertiary business school questionnaire, said the government was determined to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem the spirit of young people to venture into self-built businesses.
The TBSC, which is a partnership between Graphic Business and the Ministry of Enterprise Development, seeks to develop the entrepreneurial instinct of university students.
"That's why we created UTE last year. We have reached 10,000 of them and this year we want to introduce UTE in higher education institutions and in April we will launch the UTE Tertiary, "said Dr. Awal.

Highlighting the importance of developing the business spirit of young people, he said: "Ghanaians are very intelligent, but what we lack is the ecosystem that encourages young people to start their own business. "
The competition
Fourteen higher education institutions grouped into groups of two will compete in the next 13 weeks to win the ultimate prize.
The institutions are the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), the University of Accra Professional Studies (UPSA), the University of Ghana, the University of Cape Coast (UCC) and Ghana Technology. University College (GTUC).
The others are the University of Education, Winneba, Regent University College, Radford University College, the African University College of Communications (AUCC), Dominion University College, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and
Technology (KNUST), University for Development Studies, Methodist University College, and Wisconsin University College.
The competing schools will be interviewed on business-related topics and issues in the Graphic Business Journal.
Collaboration
Mr. Awal explained that CSEC was aligning with the government's program of instilling young people's entrepreneurship to help them become business champions in the future.
"In 2017, the government allocated $ 10 million to support youth entrepreneurship, and this amount is increased to $ 100 million. Over the next four years, we will spend $ 100 million to support youth-led businesses, "he said.
Participate in the competition
Mr. Awal encouraged young people to be interested in competitions such as the TBSC, the government being ready to help those who are ready to make big dreams by venturing into their own businesses.
"Only last year, we helped 1,300 people with funding between 10,000 and 100,000 GH ¢. This year, we intend to carry out 3,000 startups and the expansion. We encourage young people to dream big, "he said.
