One of the suspects in the ongoing trial of the murder of the former president of the Upper East New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adams Mahama, was released on bail by a high court.
Gregory Afoko was released on bail pending his incarceration in a district court and his possible trial in the High Court.
Gregory Afoko was allowed to pay a deposit of 500 000 GHc with two sureties, one of which must be justified.

As part of bail conditions, he was also ordered to report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police every two weeks.
The Afoko trial began in 2016 and was about to end after the closing of the prosecution by the defense attorney.
However, on January 28, 2019, the Attorney General filed a motion to stop the trial following the arrest of another suspect, Asabke Alangdi, who was on the run.
