Ghana Grid Company Limited said it had cut power to areas around Trasacco by 50% in order to fix blackouts that led to Saturday’s blackouts in major parts of the Greater Accra region.

A statement released by GridCo noted that the power outage occurred on Saturday April 3, 2021 because “a conductor on the Tema-Accra East transmission line fell in Trasacco.”

The statement further states that “the maintenance team was able to work around the clock to restore power to the central wholesale supply points (BSPs) in Mallam, Achimota and Accra at around 4 a.m. on Sunday April 4. 2021 ”.

“The power supply has however been reduced to 50% in areas around Trasacco as the team works to permanently fix the fault,” GridCo said in a statement.
