Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) Chief of Security, Major (Rtd) Lawrance Appiah, warned that his team would not hesitate to adopt a shooting strategy to kill in order to protect his facilities from saboteurs .

According to him, the company took note of attempts orchestrated by some people to damage its facilities for reasons that were better known to them.

He added that the company would use any legitimate means to ensure the protection of its facilities, which are also national badets.

"We want to say to those who do it because they do not want the good of Ghana to be very careful.

We are ready with the soldiers. We know the rules of engagement, but we will not hesitate if the arrest does not work; shoot to kill because Ghana has to succeed, "he said.

Major Appiah warned the journalist when he addressed reporters after a visit to a few oil pipelines in the Tema enclave, believed to have been burned by unscrupulous individuals last Sunday.

He recounted that on Sunday, April 7, between 11 pm and 12 pm, one of their security personnel installed in their security tower noticed that one of the pipelines transporting fuel from the pier of the Tema Refinery Oil at their enclave had been burned. security patrol team.

Major Appiah stated that the patrol team had rushed to the scene and discovered that the pipes had actually been burned by an unknown person with truck tires and that the fire had quickly been off.

He stated that their audits revealed that the affected pipelines belonged to Cirrus Oil Services Limited. However, because of the explosive nature of the fuel often carried in the pipelines, this could have been a disaster not only for this company, but also for other facilities, including the Volta. River Authority (VRA) and GRIDCo.

"We all know that the government is working hard to improve the power everyone can enjoy. Unfortunately, some people are not interested and try to do something to reduce it.

We will not sit down and let it go, so we have done everything we need to do, "he said.

Following the recent round of attacks, GRIDCo has strengthened its security in the region and its facilities across the country, adding, "We have soldiers, police officers, the Office of National Investigations and National Security who are helping us smother in the egg. "

Major Appiah also called on the general public to be vigilant and provide information to security agencies to enable them to arrest unscrupulous individuals responsible for such despicable acts and bring them to a successful conclusion.

He added that any destruction of national facilities would not only affect operations, but would jeopardize the country's development process. Therefore, Ghanaians should be concerned about such acts.

For his part, Mr. Daniel Amehoe, Health, Safety, Security and Environment Manager of Cirrus Oil Services Limited, confirmed that the pipelines belonged to them, but could not provide any explanation to the attempt to burn him.

He explained that these pipes would normally have been buried underground but exposed because their engineers were working on the lines.

Amehoe said the pipes would have exploded if he was carrying fuel, adding that "as our engineers are working on these pipes, they contained only water and that may be the reason why they do not." have not succeeded.
