In all fairness, Sean didn’t have much time to mourn the death last season because he had to suppress his anger at Dorothy accidentally leaving their child in the car after being distracted with work and housework. Then right after he had to deal with his depression, so he just took care of her, balancing that with his work as an internationally renowned chef. And just when he seemed to want to embrace the pain, Jericho was reborn, so he didn’t have time to process anything as he now had to start his life as a father again … and this time in secret since the the. public knew they had lost a child.

Now we see how it all took a toll on him, slowly eroding his mind, and as Uncle George realized, Sean feels guilty for neglecting his family when the child was alive. He begins to think that this is all a macabre curse as it leads to his wife’s resentment, self-hatred and a ball of emotions that he is still whispering. But thanks to Julian (Rupert Grint) – Dorothy’s brother and best friend – it all falls apart.

Sean has to hide evidence about Jericho because he knows the cops will think they kidnapped someone’s baby. Maintaining the facade is the main goal, but deep down, he misses the child. He makes it clear to Julian that they will get Jericho back and raise the baby, which causes Julian to throw the reborn doll in the trash when no one is around. But Sean saves the doll from being squeezed into the garbage truck, and the last hit has him bathed in the tub in a heartbreaking scene.

It’s a rare and vulnerable moment, with him breaking down and finally accepting how much he misses the idea of being a dad. He exorcises his guilt and regrets because he really wanted a second chance. However, he took it for granted, focusing on the mystery of Jericho, rather than Jericho himself. And that’s why when the melancholy Sean says he wants the boy home again, when he’s partly right that it will save Dorothy’s life, it’s to save him too because being a good one. father can offer him the redemption he so desperately seeks. sins of the past.
