It is feared that the disruption will affect preparations for the "Homowo" festival.
Groups of young rivals clashed early Sunday morning at Ga Mashie, better known as Jamestown in Accra, following the installation of a new leader.
Fred Smith, editor-in-chief of JoyNews, reports that the youths were wielding offensive weapons ready to fight.
A man in plain clothes was also seen in possession of an AK47 badault rifle, the reporter said.
It followed reports that a faction claiming to be the legitimate occupant of Abola's royal stool had forced the opening of the doors of the royal house and installed a Nii Ashriefi as chief of the young Abola Shipi from the region.
Another camp opposed to the installation confronted the group and triggered the disruption.
Some properties were destroyed and the installation process was also blocked.
There were no security personnel at the scene of the clashes, which is in front of Fort Ussher jails.
The calm has been restored, but locals fear an explosion of the situation because no state security officer is present in the area.
It is to be feared that the disruption will affect the preparations being made before the celebration of the festival "Homowo" in two weeks.
