Ghana Telecom University College (GTUC) has launched a training program for security services in the eastern region, aimed at providing security personnel with basic information technology skills, ensuring their efficiency and effectiveness. in the fight against emerging cyber crimes.
Speaking at the launch of the program in Koforidua, GTUC acting president, Nana, Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, said the university would commit a total of 500,000 GH ¢ to train more than 1,000 security agents. Police security, immigration, prisons and fire departments with basic computer skills must be technologically willing over a period of three years.
He explained that the batch training would focus on the basics of computer security and maintenance, information and communication (cyber), word processing, spreadsheets and presentations. These will be enhanced through additional training in cybersecurity and forensic science.
According to him, the two-month free basic computer training in the Eastern Region is just a pilot program and we, at GTUC, intend to broadcast it on our regional campuses (Ho, Takoradi and Kumasi) to help prepare our security services. fulfill the government's program of a safe and prosperous Ghana, beyond the aid ".
The Deputy Regional Minister for the East, Samuel Nuertey Ayertey, said that the global revolution in information technology is accompanied by sophisticated crimes requiring highly skilled computer security services to fight against emerging crimes.
He said: "Our security personnel must be equipped with the skills and technology required to play their part in the fight against crime."
