Pep Guardiola hinted that Manchester City's pursuit of Harry Maguire could go to the end – if a move materialized at all.

City competes with rival Man Utd for the signing of England and Maguire, City City Leicester, who could become the most expensive defender in the world if the Fox could get the price they ask.

however, Brendan Rodgers insists that Leicester does not need to sell the 26 year old player, which would have a value around 80 million pounds.

Leicester's stubborn approach may drive the saga of transfers to the end of the window, and City boss Guardiola gave an ambiguous answer as to whether his team would make a late bid.

"If we think we can, otherwise we will survive without a new central defender," he said.

City plans to buy a replacement for the late captain, Vincent Kompany, who became player-coach at Anderlecht. Their current options in the center are Aymeric Laporte, John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi, with Eliaquim Mangala should leave before the end of the window.

However, Guardiola admitted that he was expecting a very minimal transfer activity over the remaining two weeks, thus revealing the number of signatures he intends to make.

"Not a lot. I like the faces we have.

"Maybe but the transfer market is so difficult and the team is pretty good. Maybe zero, maybe one, maybe one and a half.

Meanwhile, one of Maguire's former teammates in Hull City expects his transfer into the red half of Manchester with United will soon become a formality. Read the full story here.
