Suspected fully masked armed robbers attacked a mobile money vendor in Ekye Amanfrom, in the southern plains district of Kwahu Afram in the eastern region.
The incident on Saturday October 9, 2021 resulted in the death of one person.
An eyewitness told reporters that “the thieves were walking from Ekye Market wearing face masks that cover their heads up to their necks, wielding daggers and AK47 invaded Samuel Agbozo Enterprise amid gunfire, destroyed his glass showcase and took away the phones he had displayed for sale, took the mobile money in cash.
“They also attacked a nearby grocery store and took an unspecified amount of money in their bags and fled into the bush. It was like a movie because people were selling everywhere but no one could face them.
It comes after mobile money agents pleaded with authorities to deal with fraud cases and attacks on them by armed thieves.
According to officers, armed thieves attacked and killed them with guns and acid baths.
