In The Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn was gifted and chosen to wield a new weapon throughout the James Gunn film: The Javelin Javelin. Here is his story.

Warning! Spoilers ahead for The suicide squad

At James Gunn The suicide squad, Harley quinn (Margot Robbie) wields a javelin, a brand new weapon she’s never used before in previous movies or comics. Given to her early on in the movie, a lot of weight is placed on this javelin during the movie’s first act, and Harley spends the rest of the movie trying to figure out what she’s supposed to do with it. Here are the origins and powers of Harley Quinn’s javelin, given to her by the aptly named Javelin (played by Flula Borg) just before her death among the first Suicide Squad sent to the island nation of Corto Maltese.

In The suicide squad first act, Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) sends the Suicide Squad on a mission that results in the deaths of several characters, serving as a distraction for Corto Maltese’s forces so that his real Task Force X can infiltrate the island undetected. However, both Harley and Rick Flag would eventually survive, with Rick being rescued by resistance fighters and Harley herself arrested and taken to the president of Corto Maltese. However, before being arrested, she received Javelin’s javelin as he lay dying on the beach. The two had flirted on the flight, and he told her that she was the only one fit to wear his javelin. However, he passed away before fully explaining why she had to wear it, leaving Harley frustrated and trying to figure out what the javelin was for throughout the rest of the movie.

As for the origins of Flula Borg’s javelin and her javelin in DC Comics, little is known about the dark villain. Although no real name has ever been given, it is known that Javelin was once an incredibly gifted German Olympian in the sport of the javelin throw, although for some reason he turned to crime somewhere in course. Eventually, joining the Suicide Squad on several occasions, Javelin formed an arsenal of javelins for his use, and some could even explode on impact. However, it seems that the DCEU version seen in The suicide squad has only one javelin, its main meaning and power coming from Harley after her death.

That being said, Harley Quinn’s use of the javelin ended up getting her out of a few risky situations, such as her escape from Corto Maltese’s forces and surviving as Jotunheim’s lab crumbled around the squad in the last act of the film. That being said, Harley finally found out what she was supposed to do with her new javelin when the team decided to ignore Waller’s orders and face Starro, believing she was supposed to use it to stab. the giant cosmic starfish in the eye to save the day.

That being said, Javelin’s javelin appeared to be just an ordinary javelin (albeit durable and sharp), although the meaning he and Harley Quinn placed on it made it a very important tool for Harley as and when the film was progressing. In any case, she has certainly proven herself to be quite capable with her legacy weapon, and it will be interesting to see if the Javelin Javelin will eventually replace some of the other weapons she has used in the past, like her baseball bat. Perhaps the now iconic weapon could be presented as Harley quinn primary weapon of choice going forward in a possible sequel for The suicide squad.
