Harry Redknapp thinks that England will win a major championship in the next eight years.

England reached the semifinals of the World Cup last year, its best performance at a major tournament since Euro 1996, and Redknapp supports the Gareth Southgate team to end the country's long Argentine wait.

"We have an amazing group of young players," Redknapp said.

"It's such an exciting time, Gareth is on the verge of a great adventure with these young kids, I see so much talent there, the future is amazing.

"I think we're about to win a European championship or a World Cup in the next eight years, there's a big competition in this group of English players."

Redknapp also praised the English captain Harry Kane, with whom he worked during his tenure as manager of Tottenham.

"It's just a clbad act, on and off the field," Redknapp said. "People said the same thing about Bobby Moore – a great captain and leader.

"He's a great guy, a perfect model, he trains and trains hard, he works hard, you never see anything wrong with him, he's a father of family."

Redknapp was speaking at the charity event organized by the Kiyan Prince Foundation. Kiyan was a young QPR player who had been stabbed to death at the age of 15.

Dr. Mark Prince, founder of the foundation, seeks to educate children and keep young people away from knife crime – and on Tuesday, Prince William awarded him an OBE for his charity.
