A singer who has a tattoo of Harry Styles on his cheek says that it's a fake.

Kelsy Karter made headlines around the world – including in a Radio 1 Newsbeat article – when she shared the photo of her new face ink on Instagram.

The singer, originally from New Zealand, had tweeted to say that she was preparing something special for Harry's birthday, Feb. 1.

She has now admitted that it was a stunt to publish her latest single on the former singer of One Direction.

Kelsy shared the picture of Harry's face tattooed on his cheek a few days ago with the caption "Mom, look what I got made of".

People could not believe that the ink had been stuck on his face and many criticized the design itself.

She had published a song about Harry Styles and many thought that she was a crazy fan.

"Harry, I'm going to make you love," she chanted.

"You're going to make breakfast for me, it's just a secret between us, we can keep it quiet, I'm not funny, you should have that chance to put your velvet arms around me."

But now, Kelsy, who lives in Los Angeles, says the tattoo is a fake.

She posted a video on YouTube explaining the whole idea of tattooing.

"In April 2018, I was going through the most difficult time of my life," she wrote in the video.

My dog Diva died, my relationship ended and the last thing I wanted to do was write another sad song about it. "

Instead, she decided to write a song about Harry Styles.

A week later, Kelsy says that she directed, produced, and edited the video clip "for $ 300" (£ 229).

"Then we suspended it for six months and wrote the rest of the record."

Fast forward to 2019 and the approach of Harry's birthday – in a (successful) attempt to get noticed, Kelsy decided to tattoo Harry's face on his face.

Romeo Lacoste, a renowned tattoo artist, appealed to her to give her a real appearance.

He has already tattooed celebrities such as Kendrick Lamar, Swae Lee and Justin Bieber.

Kelsy also had help from a makeup artist.

"By the way, we know it sounds ridiculous – it was the goal," she says in the video.

"The tattoo is gone, all that's left is the music – that's what my rock star team and I had planned from the beginning."
