Harvey Elliott watched the stands as Liverpool beat local neighbors Tranmere Rovers 6-0 in their first game since winning the Champions League last month.

The 16-year-old is about to move from Fulham to Liverpool with a court-ordered compensation program after the two clubs failed to charge a transfer fee.

Elliott agreed to Liverpool's youth conditions after he turned down a contract in Fulham and is expected to join Jurgen Klopp's first team on arrival at Anfield.

England's Under-17 international is likely to have been impressed by what he saw at Prenton Park: two Liverpool experimental teams tore up their opponents in League One.

Back from his loan period at Bournemouth, Nathaniel Clyne gave Liverpool the lead, before Rhian Brewster scored two predator goals to allow Liverpool to score 3-0 at the break.

Klopp took the opportunity to run his entire team in the second half and Divock Origi completed his new contract with a goal sandwiched between the catches of Curtis Jones and Paul Glatzel.

Liverpool has been silent until now at the transfer window. Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg, 17, was the only addition to Klopp's squad after joining PEC Zwolle for £ 4.4m.

Elliott should be the next player to pbad the door and Liverpool has high hopes for the talented playmaker after defeating Real Madrid and PSG at his signing.
