The royal family is one of the most prominent groups of people in the world and there is no doubt that they are struggling with their popularity. After all, everything they say, do and wear is closely scrutinized. Statements are often taken out of context, leading to major scandals and a mere malfunction of a wardrobe can make headlines. Add to this the fact that members of the royal family, especially older members – such as Prince William, Kate Middleton, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – can not do as much as go out in public without the photographers launching a flash frenzy.

In most families, everyone is looking for themselves, and this is true even for the royal family. Usually, a person feels that it is his duty to watch over everyone. Has Prince William ever felt responsible for the protection of the royal family?

The royal family is constantly watched. They represent a whole country, so they must naturally maintain a certain image. Everyone, from royal fans to reporters, is constantly looking for insights into their private lives. The members of the royal family must therefore take care to protect their privacy. Even in interviews, questions can become uncomfortable or inappropriate, and words must be carefully chosen.

Did a young prince William feel that it was his duty to protect Princess Diana?

Prince William was only 15 years old when Princess Diana died. He spent all his life watching her constantly followed and photographed.

Princess Diana insisted that her two young sons had a "normal" education. She was well known for volunteering to help the less fortunate. And although many people imagine that exotic dishes prepared by professional chefs are served to the royal family, this has not always been the case for Prince William and Prince Harry. Their mother wanted them to know what it was like to stand in line and buy a fast food meal just like the rest of us.

Princess Diana was not a fan of the inconvenience caused by the photographers. It was likely that Prince William knew it at the time and he felt it was up to him to protect it. In fact, at one point he gave an interview in which he was "sad" that he could not protect Princess Diana. He said that the late princess was a bit "naive" in her relations with the media. The constant pursuit of paparazzi finally cost the life of Princess Diana. To say that it was hard for Prince William is a huge euphemism.

Does Prince William do all he can to protect his brother, Prince Harry?

He does it most certainly! The older prince too well understands the feeling of being constantly in the spotlight, especially since he is a future king. He is as favorable as possible to his younger brother, at one point, stopping even one of Prince Harry's interviews because of the questions asked. The media had leaked Prince Harry's secret deployment and it had been removed, which bothered him a lot. Soon after, he approached a collapse during an interview and Prince William came to his rescue.
