West Ham would like to hire Fenerbahce's captain, Hasan Ali Kaldirim.

The hammers spoke to the player's agent and the BBC was informed that Turkish international Kaldirim was eager to move to the Premier League.

The left-back, who was linked to West Ham in 2017, has in his contract a release clause of 5 million euros (4.42 million pounds sterling) expiring in 12 months.

Edimilson Fernandes left West Ham for the German side of the FSV Mainz with striker Lucas Perez transferred to Alaves in Spain.

The fees in both transfers were not disclosed.

Born in Germany, Kaldirim, 29, has been in Fenerbahce since 2012, having already played for Kayserispor.

Kaldirim has 30 international caps for Turkey and is the only Fenerbahce player in the national team for this week's Euro 2020 playoffs against France and Iceland.

He scored five goals in 224 Super Lig matches with Fenerbahce.

Everything changes for hammers

After guiding the club to its first top 10 since 2013, Manuel Pellegrini, the boss of West Ham, began to reshape his team.

The club has already released Andy Carroll, Samir Nasri and Adrian, while Roberto and David Martin, son of former skipper Alvin Hammers, brought extra coverage to the goalkeeper, thanks to free transfers respectively from Espanyol and Millwall.

Swiss international Fernandes – who had been loaned last season to Serie A club Fiorentina – played 48 first-team matches with the Hammers, whom he joined from Sion in 2016.

The 23-year-old has signed a four-year contract with Mainz.

Perez, who signed a contract at Arsenal for £ 4 million in August 2018, has joined Spanish club Primera Division, Alaves.

The 30-year-old Spaniard has scored six goals in 19 games with the Hammers.

He became West Ham's first substitute in 19 years to score two goals after coming into play in a Premier League game after scoring a double in the 3-1 win over Cardiff City in December 2018.
