Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture designate Hawa Koomson has attempted to define fish farming and its benefits.

This was in response to a question from Bode MP Samson Ahi during his audit Thursday.

Awutu Senya East MP has done his best to define what fish farming is at the parliamentary appointments committee.

She said, “Fish farming is the process of raising fish in tanks and fish ponds, etc.”

She also mentioned two advantages of fish farming in addition to the definition.

“It allows the farmer to earn some income, it also increases the fish for consumption in our community.”

Ms. Hawa Koomson said she will inquire about the number of areas where fishing is practiced.

“If I’m right, there are four fishing regions in Ghana, if I’m wrong I’ll know when I get my head,” she said.

Hawa Koomson was the former Minister of Special Development Initiatives, but President Akufo-Addo decided to dismantle the ministry during his second term.
