Executive Producer Trinh Tran and Actress Hailee Steinfeld Explain the Dynamics of Clint Barton and Kate Bishop in Hawk Eye. The next Disney + series from Marvel Studios, Hawk Eye, will mark the first solo MCU project for eponymous archer Jeremy Renner alongside apprentice arrow thrower Kate Bishop (Steinfeld). It will also star Vera Farmiga as Bishop’s mother, Eleanor, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, Fra Fee as new characters, and Florence Pugh reprising her. This film’s post-credits scene saw Yelena being manipulated into thinking Clint was responsible for the death of her sister, Natasha Romanoff, in Avengers: Endgame.

Yelena is rumored to take over from Black Widow in the MCU, and in turn, Kate will train to inherit from Clint. The Marvel Studios series appears to be inspired by Matt Fraction and David Aja’s 2013 solo series, My weapon life, a fan-favorite comic book describing Kate’s first meeting with Clint. Hawkeye will also further explore Clint’s time as the grieving Ronnin during the events of End of Game, which will probably motivate his desire to go out at sunset with his family. The series was written by Jonathan Igla (Mad Men, Bridgerton) and directed by director duo Bert and Bertie, aka Amber Finlayson and Katie Ellwood.

Now executive producer Tran and Steinfeld have explained Clint and Kate’s dynamic on the show. Talk with THAT ONE (via u / magikarpcatcher), Tran talked about describing Clint as a family man who is “no nonsense“and pitting him against Kate,”who is super energetic and boring at times.“Check out the full quotes from Tran and Steinfeld below:

Tran: There is the father of the family that we portrayed, a more serious character who makes no sense and who manages to do what he has to do to complete the mission. But here is the pit against Kate, who is super energetic and annoying at times. It’s about putting them together and seeing what comes out of them.

Steinfeld: “One thing I love so much about the Fraction comics is the joke between them. Jeremy and I immediately established that on a personal level …[There is] a similar dynamic with him taking me under his wing and showing me the ropes, then letting me do my thing.

The small screen projects of phase 4, including WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Loki all presented at least one dynamic duo at their center. It remains to be seen whether Kate and Clint will compete with Loki and Mobius, Sam and Bucky, or Wanda and Vision. Either way, it will definitely be different as Kate’s energy and admiration brings out the best in Clint, who has had a pretty traumatic run in the MCU. New official photos of the Hawk Eye the series offered a glimpse of that dynamic, a look at the costume of Kate and Lucky the Pizza Dog, Clint’s criminal dog in the comics.

As Loki and What if…?, Hawk Eye will air new episodes every Wednesday starting November 24, 2021. Hawk Eye will consist of six episodes and play a huge role in building the MCU’s roster for the foreseeable future. One aspect of phase 4 seems largely concerned with the passing of the torch and Hawk EyeThe unconventional father / daughter dynamic of addresses just that. The show’s promotional campaign will be in full swing very soon, and fans can’t wait to see Clint and Kate in action.
