Hazardous material teams flew to Sydney airport this morning after concerns were raised when a suspect white substance was spilled from the pbadenger's bag.

But what they found was far from their worst suspicions.

Aviation firefighters and NSW firefighters and firefighters arrived at the scene on the tarmac, near the door of Terminal 35.

"In accordance with the usual response protocols, we have sent hazardous materials teams in case the situation is considered the worst case scenario," NSW Fire and Rescue spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia.

"In this case, the substance was determined as a detergent and there was no risk.

"We just had to follow standard procedures to send the resources we had," they said.

The Sydney airport officials also confirmed that there was no risk to the public.
