HBO and Anheuser-Busch broke many of the Super Bowl's business conventions on Sunday night by staging a promotion in which the brewer's famous Bud Knight was brutally killed in a location that changed advertising for "Game of Thrones" beer. .

HBO, backed by AT & T, should feature prominently in a new video streaming service screened later in the year, which is badociated with Anheuser-Busch InBev for this bold performance. But the humor quickly dissipated after the defeat of the knight and a dragon flies over the kingdom and burns its inhabitants.

HBO has refused to put its leaders at the disposal of Sunday night to discuss advertising and its strategy.
