The message from Mike's entire family

On March 16, 2019, at the age of 26, Mike Thalbaditis sadly committed suicide.

Mike was loved by many and had a bright future ahead of him. He had a close network of friends and family members, a highly regarded public profile, a strong portfolio of promising new businesses and financial stability. allowing him to enjoy more luxury than most of them.

More importantly, he looked impeccably healthy from the outside (some even called him a "Greek god") and when he was surrounded by friends and members of his family, he was full of jokes and sarcasm and always had a cheeky smile stuck on his face.

Yet despite everything, and most importantly, he was suffering from mental health problems, a dark depression that he kept very hidden, even from his closest friends and family. Thus, on March 16, overwhelmed and exhausted by his personal battle with depression, he made the tragic decision to give up the fight by putting an end to his life.

Unfortunately, Mike's situation is not unique. In the United Kingdom, suicide is the leading cause of death among men under 45 – 12 men commit suicide every day! These statistics are tragic, incredibly scary and heartbreaking – but most of all, they are unacceptable and must change!

Mike's decision upset our world, we can not understand or accept a life without Mike and there are no words to describe grief, stress, sadness, shock and the unbelief in which we are all drowning right now. .

That's why we decided to create a legacy for Mike by doing everything in our power to change this heartbreaking epidemic, so that no family will ever suffer the same suffering as us. But more importantly, we want to make sure that all men know where to get help, and no man ever thinks that suicide is his only option.

As a result, we have chosen to work closely with CALM (Campaign Against Miserable Living – the largest charity in the fight against male suicide, www.thecalmzone.net) to educate young men about depression, to break down stigma and develop practical resources to help people in distress. and already in crisis. As such, we would be extremely grateful for any gift to our cause. All donations will go to CALM and our shared ambition to end the suicide of men among young men in the UK.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.

& # 39; Change the way you live your life, your love for your loved ones and the way you treat strangers …

"I can see a lot of reality facing the room, please, do not let that escape you. It's so difficult, rejection, competitiveness, the need to always look properly on social media.

"So, let's learn from that. We are all in the same boat. We all go through the same constraints. Let 's be nice, be kinder, more sincere, let' s check one another, life is too short.

This fundraiser is the second in Mike's honor, after his best friend, Simon Legg, launched a page that gathered thousands before being closed. However, all funds are added to the new Thalbaditis fund.
