Health authorities in Montana recorded 488 new cases of influenza in the state during the last week of January, bringing the total to 1,486 cases.
According to the Bozeman Daily Chronicle, the state's Department of Public Health and Human Services has registered 75 hospitalizations and two flu-related deaths so far this season.
The state has defined the flu as generalized, which means that epidemics or an increase in the number of cases have been reported in about half of the state.
Montana recorded 10,431 influenza cases, 979 hospitalizations and 79 deaths last season.

Matt Kelley, Gallatin County Health Officer, said it was not too late for people to get vaccinated against the flu.
